Briargate is an upscale, master-planned community on the northern side of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Laid out in the early 1990s by developer La Plata Communities, Briargate and its sister community Pine Creek were designed to give residents safe, pleasant neighborhoods on the outskirts of Colorado Springs but close enough to provide access to big city needs. Briargate is renowned for its namesake, upscale shopping district, known as the Promenade Shops at Briargate, and is home to some of the city's top restaurants and schools. Briargate is also just minutes away from Penrose Hospital, routinely voted as one of the top 100 community hospitals in the entire US.
The streets of Briargate are meticulously laid out with gorgeous landscaping, wide sidewalks and well-maintained streets. Traffic lights and signs are uniform across the community, as are retaining walls and other infrastructure unique to the community. Building codes are strict in this upscale community, limiting developers to designs that won't clash with existing properties in an effort to prevent deterioration of property values. Acceptable architectural styles within the Briargate community include Craftsman, European Cottage, Prairie and Spanish Eclectic.
Encompassing an impressive 9,600 acres, Briargate is a mecca for outdoor activities, with several parks in the community including a skateboard park. The community has its own YMCA location, and boasts several award-winning golf courses including Pine Creek Golf Course. Briargate residents enjoy quick access to all the natural attractions offered by Colorado Springs, including Garden of the Gods, Cheyenne Mountain State Park, Seven Falls and America's most well-known mountain, Pikes Peak. Briargate students, meanwhile, attend classes in Academy School District 20, voted one of the state's Top 10 districts nearly every year.
